Description & Objectives: |
This course is designed for general neurologists, neurology residents, and others in the health profession who wish to enhance their knowledge of movement disorders. This program will deal with classification of these disorders, their differential diagnosis and treatment. The goals of the course are twofold: to introduce the field to the novice, and to increase the level of knowledge of current practitioners in the field. This material will be presented in four morning and two evening sessions utilizing didactic lectures and videotape demonstrations. The format of the program is intended to provide ample time for questions and discussion following each presentation.
Participants are encouraged to bring interesting cases from their own practice for presentation during the “Night Video Rounds” session.
At the conclusion of the activity, participants will be better able to: •Recognize, diagnose and classify the various dyskinesias •Differentiate Atypical Parkinsonism from Parkinson disease (PD) •Utilize new treatments for patients with PD and dyskinesias •Recognize and treat psychogenic movement disorders |

Aspen, Colorado: |
Aspen is located 200 miles southwest of Denver at an elevation of 7,900 feet in the midst of the White River National Forest, near some of the most spectacular scenery in Colorado.
A wide variety of activities are offered in the summer, including music, dance, theater, hiking, climbing, fly-fishing, white water rafting, biking, golf, tennis, horseback riding, hot air ballooning, back country jeeping, shopping, dining, scenic airplane tours, and wilderness houseboat tours on a scenic mountain lake. Many local attractions include the Wheeler Opera House, Aspen Historical Society, Aspen Art Museum, Aspen Summer Music and Dance Festivals, and the Ashcroft ghost town.
The famed Aspen Music Festival boasts more than 200 musical events over a period of nine weeks, featuring symphonic, chamber, choral and opera performances. Passes to the festival will be available to conference attendees at a reduced rate. Further information regarding the music festival and recreational activities will be forwarded to you upon receipt of the registration form.
Colorado weather features warm days, cool evenings and occasional afternoon showers. Bring clothing suitable for temperatures between 50 and 80 degrees. Casual wear is recommended. |

Physicians: $500; Fellows & Residents in training: $350 (with letter from program director certifying status); Other Health Professionals: $350. The tuition fee includes the didactic lectures, daily breakfast buffet and refreshments, night video rounds and an electronic syllabus. Refund of registration fee, less a $25 administrative charge, will be made if written notice of cancellation is received by July 16, 2015. No refunds can be made thereafter. |
