Course Number: |

Description & Objectives: |
This program will be of interest to health professionals who seek to expand their knowledge about factors that modify micronutrient status, including drugs, chronic disease and surgery, and to apply what is learned to practice. In particular, healthcare providers who do not feel comfortable answering patient questions regarding how to rectify any micronutrient gaps will benefit from attending. Following the symposium, attendees will be able to appreciate the biologic mechanisms underlying drug micronutrient interactions, the impact of chronic disease and surgery, and the magnitude of their clinical significance. They will also be able to 1) access, interpret and utilize the most current information about factors that modify micronutrient interactions, 2) interpret and utilize current information about assessment of micronutrient status, and 3) make informed recommendations for patient/client consumption, especially to those at risk for inadequate intake. |
