Overview / Abstract:

In this application-based continuing pharmacy education activity Dr Michael Smith, PharmD, CACP discusses the reversal of oral anticoagulation medications.
Target Audience:

Pharmacists who are interested in the management of patients on anticoagulation therapy and/or who are interested in starting pharmacy services for patients on anticoagulation therapy

This activity is not accredited for technicians
Learning objectives:

At the conclusion of the activity, pharmacists will be able to:

Describe the pharmacological agents and therapeutic strategies available for use in patients who experience major bleeding

Discuss the risks and limitations of current agents available for reversal

Develop treatment plans to manage severe bleeding in a patient on anticoagulation therapy
