Overview / Abstract
This online home study course is designed for Licensed Massage Therapists and Texas Licensed Professional Counselors to increase your knowledge regarding working compassionately and effectively with the effects of trauma and post-trauma in your practice. Topics addressed include information regarding finding your personal comfort zone, self care, recognizing the somatic effects of trauma, maintaining appropriate boundaries, establishing trust, centering and grounding skills, effective communication skills, and honoring your scope of practice. Information will be provided that addresses the needs of a person whose life has been touched by trauma. This cognitive course does not include protocols directly related to massage therapy or the manipulation of soft tissue; the focus of this course is exclusively on Soothing Trauma. Helpful practice building suggestions for marketing your services are included in the class. This online class is offered as a non-credit class for all interested parties.
