Overview / Abstract:

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of the activity, learners should be better able to:
• Identify the basic antiretroviral drug classes for the treatment of HIV positive individuals and the mechanisms of action unique to each class.
• Discuss with your patients current, FDA approved, antiretroviral medications and the side effects commonly encountered with their use.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Physicians (both specialists and primary care/family medicine) and nurses who are frontline providers of care to persons at risk of or with HIV infection. Other healthcare professionals, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants, involved in caring for these individuals may also participate.
