Brochure: Download Conference Brochure (PDF)
Course Director(s): Lawrence Lustig, M.D. & Michael J. Pitman, M.D.
Specialty: Otolaryngology
Dates: 10/18/2018 - 10/19/2018
Location: New York Marriott Marquis
1535 Broadway, Liberty Room, 8th Floor
New York, NY 10036
Course Number: Otolaryngology PM 14
Description & Objectives:
Otolaryngologist/Head and Neck Surgeons practice both the medical and surgical aspects of our specialty. Advances can come rapidly from different areas. Most educational courses focus on a particular part of the specialty, such as sinus surgery, otology, or facial plastic surgery. Therefore, there is a strong need for a comprehensive update course in the New York City area. This course will allow the participants to receive a cogent but comprehensive update and review on all aspects of the specialty, at a single course. Similar courses are held in other parts of the country, and are highly-rated and well-attended. This course is designed for practicing otolaryngologists and residents in training nationally.

It is intended that this Columbia University CME activity will lead to improved patient care. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Describe the latest advances in auditory implants, hearing loss, hearing aids, and rehabilitation
• Discuss the diagnostic evaluation of patients with voice and swallowing disorders
• Identify the current role of surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy in the management of patients with head and neck cancer
• Identify the treatment options, adjunct therapies and aesthetic considerations to Rhinoplasty due to nasal deformity
• Discuss Chronic Rhinosinusitis (CRS) and options in its contemporary management to optimize outcomes and minimize complications.
• Describe the indications, technique, and common findings of sleep endoscopy in the management of pediatric sleep disordered breathing
• Discuss contemporary management of geriatric patents and how to improve their diagnosis and management
• Recognize updates in the future of medicine
