Helping Your Patients Over the Detox Hurdle: Strategies for Successful Outcomes

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Addiction is a complex disease that requires skilled hands and informed minds to render ideal outcomes for patients. With the limited success rate of treating opioid use disorder (OUD) with mere detoxification and the lagging use of FDA-approved medication medications for OUD (MOUD), particularly extended release formulations, clinicians must ensure that patients are able to transition safely and effectively from dependence to treatment.

In the second episode of this three-part CMEOcast podcast series, OUD experts discuss best practices for managing detoxification in patients transitioning to MAT from opioid dependence and how clinicians can implement them in their practice.

At the end of this CE activity, participants should be able to:
-Implement best practices to manage detoxification in patients transitioning to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) from opioid dependence.

The following learning objectives pertain only to those requesting CNE or CPE credit:
-Explain best practices to manage detoxification in patients transitioning to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) from opioid dependence.
