Teletherapy in Psychotherapy

Teletherapy in Psychotherapy is a 3-hour online continuing education (CE/CEU) course that provides practice tips for using telehealth services in mental health practice. Teletherapy is now a routine part of psychotherapy practice, but clinicians often deliver it as if it were in-person therapy through a camera. This course examines what actually changes when therapist and client are no longer in the same room, and how clinicians can adapt deliberately. Drawing on current research on outcomes, therapeutic alliance, and remote assessment, the course covers the therapeutic frame and client selection, presence and rupture repair through a screen, the adaptation of established interventions, risk assessment and emergency decision-making at a distance, and the ethical and legal issues specific to psychotherapy practice across locations. Composite clinical cases throughout require learners to reason through ambiguous situations, and the course closes with a practical framework and one-page tool for intentional teletherapy practice.
