All Flu Antivirals Are Not Created Equal: Choosing the Right Influenza Therapy in a COVID-19 World

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of clinicians involved in the care of patients with or at risk for influenza, including those specializing in internal medicine, family medicine, hospital medicine, gynecology, emergency medicine, and critical care. It may also benefit other clinicians who are interested or involved in the care of patients with or at risk for influenza.

Program Overview

Every minute counts in the race to treat or prevent influenza in high-risk patients. But clinical uncertainty can present stumbling blocks: Does the patient have influenza, COVID-19, or both? Is the patient high risk? Should antiviral therapy be initiated? If so, when, and which one? Get your questions about best practices for influenza diagnosis and treatment answered in this fast-paced, expert-led, speed-round–enhanced activity.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

Identify appropriate candidates for influenza treatment or prophylaxis based on guideline-recommended characteristics, without unnecessary testing, in the complex COVID-19 era
Devise influenza treatment and prophylaxis plans for patients who are at risk for influenza-related complications and/or COVID-19 coinfection based on rapidly evolving evidence
