Pain Evaluation During Infancy Thru Adolescence: TReatment Impact and Considerations

Access Activity

Overview / Abstract:

Target Audience

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians and other healthcare providers who are involved in the assessment and treatment of pain in children.

Program Overview

The Opioid Analgesic REMS is designed to ensure that the benefits of opioid analgesics outweigh the risks. The goal of this actvity is to address this need by providing education to the healthcare team on the treatment and monitoring or patients who are experiencing pain and who are younger than 18 years old.

Through education, the healthcare team will have an improved understanding of how to manage their pain and the role of opioid analgesics along with non-pharmacologic and non-opioid analgesics in pain management for pediatric patients. This activity will also provide information about the risks of opioids and use of other therapies, which is intended to assist HCPs in reducing adverse outcomes of addiction/substance use disorder, unintentional overdose, and death resulting from inappropriate prescribing and misuse of opioid analgesics.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
