This program will provide pharmacists with an overview of opioid pain medication and identify the signs of abuse and diversion that can occur in patients receiving them. The program will emphasize the role of the pharmacist in intervening and educating patients to prevent abuse and diversion while optimizing pain management.

In order to prevent overuse and abuse, clinicians, especially pharmacists, must be diligent about monitoring adverse events and potential misuse in their pain patients.
